Portsmouth Youth Sailing (PYS) aims to provide the children of Portsmouth basic sailing instruction in a safe and fun environment. The 2009 Summer Season is based at Sandy Point Beach with instruction to be provided in Optimist Dinghies.
Three types of camps are planned: six separate one week NOVICE camps will be held in the morning sessions and three two-week CAPTAIN camps will be held in the afternoon sessions for kids ages 7-12 of all abilities. In addition, there will be a week of instruction geared specifically to younger kids, age 5-6, called FIRST MATE (either morning or afternoon). We are also pleased to announce the continued development of our RACING program for those children with a desire to begin racing.
Residential On-line registration opens March 18. Students can register for any number of weeks – from a single week to four weeks- but you are expected to participate in any week for which you register. Also, we ask that you register for the weeks in order of preference. Based on demand, PYS has the right to limit the number of weeks of participation. Non-Resident Registration for any vacancies will be available on April 22.
